'American Horror Story: Slender Man' for Season 6?

The next installment of "American Horror Story" could be the series' creepiest season yet.

If Us Weekly's sources are correct, the sixth season of the FX anthology series will be about Slender Man -- a mysterious, tall and lengthy faceless man in a black suit who preys on children.

Slender Man, of course, is not a real person. According to Wikipedia, the fictional supernatural character is a meme that was created in 2009. Stories about Slender Man often feature him stalking, abducting or traumatizing kids.

Slender Man mad national news in 2014 when two 12-year-old girls from Wisconsin lured another girl of the same age into the woods and stabbed her 19 times, allegedly to impress the fictional character. New York Magazine published a mind-blowing article about the case last August, which you can read by clicking here.

Nevertheless, Slender Man makes for a ripe subject for the "AHS" universe.

"Someone else wrote the script, and AHS wants to adapt it to fit the show," a source told Us Weekly. "They have to buy the rights. Then they're going to figure out the cast from there."

FX renewed "AHS" back in November, not long after Season 5, "American Horror Story: Hotel" debuted. During the recent Television Critics Association press tour, the network's president John Landgraf told reporters that Season 6 would be "set in the present" with "echoes of the past" blended throughout the season, TVLine reports.

"It's set in two time periods, but principally in the present," he added.

Cast announcements have not been revealed, but Us Weekly reports "AHS" producers are working on getting Lady Gaga to return after starring as the series' leading lady in "Hotel."

"They're trying really hard to get her back!" the source said of Gaga, who won a Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series for her role as The Countess.
