Key West Men’s & Ladies’ Long Weekends: Hot Town, Hot Guys, Hot Gals!
Key West is noted as the southernmost city in the Continental United States. Once the home of both Ernest Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, it also served as the Winter White House for President Harry S. Truman.
Rich in its own eccentric heritage and boasting a graceful Victorian Historic District, this small island city has been a longtime destination of choice for artists, writers, celebrities, alternate lifestyle devotees, water sports athletes, sun worshippers. Separated from the Upper 48 by a famous island-spanning bridge, it’s hardly a surprise that a town that has always welcomed everyone would have long reigned as one of the most popular LGBT vacation destinations in the world.
You might think, "Florida? In the summer?" But Key West offers balmy breezes, plenty of pools to dip into (clothing optional!) and, of course, the beaches that surround the island. The "One Human Family" Florida paradise recently kicked off Summer 2012 with its annual Key West Pride.
Late summer is a great time to visit this tropical outpost. In August and September, the temperature averages in the low- to mid-80s -- often cooler than many Northeastern or Midwestern cities at the same time. The airfares are low, the beaches aren’t as crowded, and Duvall Street can offer its rich charms without the hordes of gawking tourists. If you want crowds, you can always find them at the Mallory Square, where cheering the sun setting in the western seas has spawned an impromptu arts festival and "happening" every night for decades.

September: WomenFest Key West
Three weeks later, which presumably will allow enough time for the town to clean up, the women take charge in the annual Womenfest Key West.
Also sponsored by the Key West Business Guild, Womenfest has hosted a wide range of activities guaranteed to appeal to a broad range of interests. Womenfest extends Sept. 4 through 9.
And guess what, ladies? You get your own clothing-optional pool parties! This Key West tradition means you can stay as cool as you want while heating up everyone else. There will also be a sizzling dance club scene, a golf tournament, and women-only water excursions that range from jet skis to dolphin. If your sense of the adventurous extends to a theater seat, you can partake in film, live music, and a comedy show.
Visitors may enjoy musical performances throughout the island, including Beverly McClellan and Sister Funk. Laugh until it hurts with the great Erin Foley, who will be joined by Sandra Valls, Chantal Carerrre, and Christine O’Leary.
Check out the details of the WF event schedule, purchase tickets online, and find out where to stay, at the Womenfest. Most events are All Welcome. All events are uniquely Key West.
